I usually try to shop for Christmas early every year. I think it gives me more time to enjoy the holidays and enjoy doing special things with my children. Last weekend, my parents were in town to see Sonny Boy in the school play. I, of course, already had shopped for them. I had bought Mom a scarf at Target that I knew matched her coat (my Grandmother, Gigi's, old coat that Mom is now wearing) and was Mom's style. Mom walked in on Friday and the first thing I noticed was her scarf.
"When did you get that scarf, Mom?"
"Oh, just a couple weeks ago. Don't you think it looks good with the coat?"
I paused. "Yes, it does. In fact, it looks exactly like what I would pick for you to wear with the coat."
I still have the receipt. I have to go back to Target on Friday anyway.

Sounds like something that would happen to me! Did they have gloves that match the scarf? Be careful being out on Friday; don't want to slip on any ice!
If that happened to me and my mom and i was the one who had bought something for myself before Christmas, she would just give it to me anyway. It would teach me a lesson not to shop for myself during December. And, i would be the one who would have to brave the crowds after Christmas. You are better than that. Though i love that you bought the same thing. Heard y'all are all icy there. We barely got a thing though school was canceled.
I should have added that my Mom rarely ever buys anything for herself - so the fact that she bought something, and it was the same thing I bought, is just really ironic.
