Hubby has done it again...

We were in the midst of a major thunderstorm last night when Hubby started to drive Sonny Boy to Scouts. Hubby pulled my 91 Nissan Sentra (5 speed stick) out of the driveway and parked it on the street so that he could then take the van. The Nissan is my baby - it gets great gas mileage and it was the first car I bought on my own - just a year out of grad school.

As Hubby and Sonny Boy were driving away from the house in the driving rain, this conversation apparently took place.

Sonny Boy - "Dad, Mom's car is going down the road."

Hubby - "Well, I guess Mom is going somewhere."

Sonny Boy - "I really don't think Mom would drive 2 miles an hour and sideways in the street."

Hubby will never know how lucky he was that the Nissan simply backed into the grassy area beside a neighbor's house and not into a telephone pole or another car. It's my guess that not placing the stick shift in reverse and pulling up the emergency break is not a good idea even in the flatlands. It should go without saying that he has lost driving privileges to my car for the foreseeable future.
